Felipe Lai | Week 9: Final Touches

WEEKLY NARRATIVE

This week I finished up some bug fixing, the first being animations and getting Rem to animate when dashing from a standing position, the code itself was pretty simple but it took me a long time trying to change it in player controller instead of in dash. I also worked on trying to fix the options menu but in the end still couldn't figure out why the menu was being weird.

POSTMORTEM    Overall I don't think I contributed as much as I could've to the team, joining in halfway in production meant that in the first couple of weeks I was trying to understand all the code and how everything worked, and only towards the end did I feel comfortable with the project as a whole to where I feel I could help in any area. 
    I really enjoyed the system that we set up to distribute and accomplish tasks, which I thought was gonna be more work than it was worth but the organization of Trello and the distribution of tasks combined with the parallel programming aspect meant that work felt fair. On top of that my work was usually accomplished in a timely manner so it could be reviewed early in the week so I could make necessary changes by class time.
    One aspect I didn't really enjoy in our production was the size of out team. I can understand that in the business a big team is a given but I'm not too sure about it in a class scenario as we all had a lot of other work outside of this and so scheduling a time where we could all meet was difficult. We still divided ourselves by our work groups to make some time but still wasn't the most efficient.
    For future projects of large team size I will definitely recommend the Trello structure we have set up as well as the group leads to maximize workflow in the school setting, and hope meetings aren't as chaotic as ours and more time efficient discussion.


CONTENT WITH HOURS

  • Animation bug fix(1.5 Hour)
  • Option/Pause menu fixes(2.5 Hours)

POSITIVE OUTCOMES

  • Tasks were finished early in the week
  • Pair Programming relieves a lot of stress


NEGATIVE OUTCOMES

  • UI was still troublesome

Finishing touches and getting ready for finals.
