WEEKLY NARRATIVE
This week, I was given a new task, which was to implement some furniture into the scenes of the hospital. This would be first time actually accessing the scene through Perforce, so learning how to navigate and use that was a small hurdle. I think I'm good though, although there are still some things about it I'm not quite sure of, so I'll have to be careful not to mess up the entire project (my biggest fear tbh). I'll probably end up doing this throughout the rest of tonight and next week, until we reach the final end of the era known as the Remembrance Era.
EXAMPLES OF WORK
POSTMORTEM
My overall performance this term I think was "slightly better" than last term, but not necessarily good. I think my quality of work improved. I'm really happy with the concept art work I did. It was enjoyable to do, and it was good practice working with Illustrator again instead of Photoshop. I was glad to be able to work on the trailer, video editing is another thing I enjoy a lot. Of course, dedicating time to this class each week was a challenge. I have many other project heavy classes this term, like Animation and another scripting class, which do take up some more my time. My part-time job cuts in a lot too. I tried to get in about 8 hours a week for this class, and for the most part I think I did that. There were certain things I didn't do because I just couldn't get the time, including play tests and meetings. These things are very crucial to being part of team, which is why I'm overall disappointed with my performance this term. As I go into my senior year, I need to think about what's important, and cut down on my work schedule and focus more on school and being part of the team I'm on, because the last thing I want to be is dead weight.
For the game itself, I liked the new direction we had going for the game. The new additions and art directions changes I think work really well. The new areas are also cool, like the library area and, had we gotten to it, the garden area would've also been nice. I think the new story was also great, and added a lot to Rem's character.
That being said there were some issues with communication and meeting deadlines. A lot of us are very busy, and there's a lot of work to be done on this game. The scope of what we wanted to do this term was very large, and I honestly just don't think we had the time to complete it all. It's a shame because a lot of plans for cools rooms just couldn't be followed through with. I think our game has potential, but just couldn't be met this term.
