Chris Lucas | PPJ Week 1: Finally In Her Head
WEEKLY NARRATIVE
So, this week was mostly about getting new members on the project on board, communicating what Remembrance has been about and what we're going for, and divvying up tasks, and figuring out what we want to get done as group this quarter. We had a main meeting where everyone played the game and brought up critiques, so we could make a list of changes that needed to be made. The next day there was also a story meeting, and I feel like there is actually where most of the progress has been made. Rem's story has changed, it's more structured now, and she has a personality. Instead of playing as some generic little blue girl (?) in a hospital, we also came up with several mechanics and animation opportunities to give her a personality. It was weird that you played in her head-space without knowing what that was. The environments are also becoming more varied, which is exciting aesthetically. Can't wait to start cranking out concept art for this new stuff once everything is solidified.Unrelated, but I've also been learning Zbrush in hopes of doing a nice Rem sculpt and re-topology.
CONTENT WITH HOURS
- Critique Meeting (3 hours)
- Story Meeting (4 hours)
- Learning Zbrush/Tutorials (2 hours)
WORKFLOW EXAMPLES
This is where you put pictures or embed whatever you want to for a more visual representation of whatever you said above.POSITIVE OUTCOMES
- I'm really excited about the new story mechanics
- We have a lot more artists this time around so we should get more concept art
- Capturing all this Mocap data will allow us a large amount of personality driven animations
- We have an actual actor on the team now (not that Mike didn't do a great job the first time around)
NEGATIVE OUTCOMES
- Haven't met with the art team yet
- These changes inflate our scope quite a bit
- Only me and one other person currently have Mocap experience
NEXT TASKS
This upcoming week, the plan is to start making art for the story we decide on, and get a much stricter texture set and color scheme down than what we had last time. We'll probably end up creating some concept boards for everyone to draw from.TOTAL HOURS LOGGED THIS WEEK: 15 hours
