Noah Nam | PPJ Week 2: Esas son Reebok o son Nike

WEEKLY NARRATIVE

One of the larger concerns with our game is that the camera is pretty bad. Jimmy and I spent a lot of time last term trying to create one from scratch but couldn't handle all clipping cases. The camera by the end of the term was disorienting players.

This term, we decided to scrap our original camera and use a free asset named Cinemachine instead. With a free look camera and collision avoidance, it had everything we needed for our game. Utkarsh, Tin, and I met on Thursday to test it out in Unity. It worked as we wanted it, so I implemented it into the game.

We ran into a problem with how Cinemachine handles camera movement. Cinemachine has its own way of reading input, but we were already using Rewired, which is supposed to be handling all input for us. Zak and I spent Friday night hooking Cinemachine and Rewired together. Luckily, there was an article explaining exactly what to do to make them work together.

After a few bug fixes over the weekend, Cinemachine was successfully implemented into the game.
