Trung Tin Pham | PPJ Week 2: Cameras and Meetings

WEEKLY NARRATIVE

This week was filled with attending meetings for various subjects and to get caught up on the project and help decided what direction to move forward with.

I attended meetings for sole programming (especially with camera use and what direction to go in order to not make the camera bad), level design, and story, in addition to the general meeting on Friday where I was caught up to the new art direction and had my questions on that answered.

From these meetings, we decided to update the game to Unity version 2017.3, use Cinemachines, a free camera asset from the asset store for the camera, use Rewired for controller input, and have a concrete story and art direction. Both Cinemachine and Rewired have been integrated. Trello was also decided over HacknPlan for task management.

CONTENT WITH HOURS

  • Programming Meeting (2 hours)
  • Looking into Cinemachine/Other cameras and Cinemachine meeting/integration (3 hours)
  • Level Design/Story Meeting (2 hours)

WORKFLOW EXAMPLES

Not much to show here really, since I worked on camera stuff and gave opinions and various topics.

POSITIVE OUTCOMES

  • Cinemachine has been integrated and works with Rewired
  • Camera clipping was solved through Cinemachine
  • Story is concrete
  • Trello was chosen as the project task management system

NEGATIVE OUTCOMES

  • I can't look through all of the code yet. This is mainly because we were still waiting on Perforce.
  • Meetings can be a bit long

NEXT TASKS

  • Get connected on Perforce and decide if we want to use this as a group or to keep using git
  • Start on bug fixes
  • Work on implementing abilities
