Matt Napolillo | Week 1: Meeting to Take a Closer Look



WEEKLY NARRATIVE

Great start to this week! Getting organized might be taking a little longer than we hoped, but everyone seems to be on the right track. Testing the game revealed a lot of issues that I hadn't even realized were there, some of which were known, and some which were a little newer to the previous team. The story meeting was incredibly productive. Coming up with a basic outline of what we actually want made me and other devs feel a wave of relief to have something more concrete. We came up with some really great ideas over that meeting as well. Whether all of them will be implemented is left to be seen, but hopefully we'll be able to get what we hope done. Here's to the start of a new (hopefully brighter) dev cycle!


CONTENT WITH HOURS

  • Playing and Writing Critique (1 hour)
  • Critique and Brainstorm Team Meeting (3 hours)
  • Story/Design Dev Meeting (4 hours)

POSITIVE OUTCOMES

  • Great start on organization and communication.
  • Productive story/design meeting feels like a huge jump in progress.

NEGATIVE OUTCOMES

  • Didn't get much time to actually look at the project.
  • Not everything is completely set up yet and being fully utilized (perforce, hack n' plan, etc.)

NEXT TASKS

Attend the next programmer meeting and level design meeting. Re-familiarize self with project code and Unity in general. Come up with some level designs.
