Mike Moore | Week 4: Back to the basics!!!!

WEEKLY NARRATIVE

This week we decided to take a step back, we removed everything but the core gameplay mechanic to make sure it is fun. We will then reimplement those mechanics one by one and tweak to get better feedback and create a more simplistic experience. We have the two new abilities in game (footstep trail, spectral wall). New tutorial level design is complete and will be in game by next week. All current models are done and textured. Rework of dash mechanic forces Rem to be pushed forward.

CONTENT WITH HOURS

  • Art Meeting (1 hours)
  • Game meeting  and prep (2 hours)
  • Gantt Revision ( .5 hours)
  • Modeling in Tri (Rem) (1 hour)
  • Research low poly modeling (1 hour)
  • Work flow research and implementation (.5 hours)

POSITIVE OUTCOMES

  • New abilities are in game, yay (footstep trail, spectral wall).
  • Design is getting some hard traction in terms of level design. The levels should be implemented next week.

NEGATIVE OUTCOMES

  • Had a slip in the art department. The art dept fell behind and was not updating art asset sheets or the master asset list.
  • Due to implementation and design arguments we decided to strip the game of some mechanics to ensure it is fun with its core mechanic. We will implement these mechanics in one by one once we are sure the game is fun and not confusing.

New Enemy code
New Enemy concept art
New Enemy model
New animations
